Food rant
I think many have an unhealthy relationship with food. Food is life in the most literal of senses. All animals require food to survive. It fuels our movements and thoughts themselves. We are able to endure short durations without thanks to our catecholamine system, but I find such deliberate hardship hilarious. Our bodies are capable of surviving without food for 3 weeks, the mild discomfort of a few hours is peak martyr complex.
Yet somehow we have demonised some foods which is a travesty to me. I have a love of food, an appreciation that you could say is spiritual in nature. I strongly suspect I am a super taster (one of my occupational therapists diagnosed me with central sensitisation syndrome but this hasn't been confirmed. If you've seen me eat especially something that tastes good you know I dive into my food, I nod, I talk and chew with my mouth open, probably disgusting all those who've eaten with me except for my loved ones. This is an expression of my lust for life and I make no apologies for it. Sit far away.
Our bodies are continually repairing and rebuilding. In some ways this these pathways can go astray but I need not elaborate on uncontrolled cell division.
More importantly, as social animals, what are we telling each other. That I am not willing to eat at your table, that what you have prepared with love to feed your family I find to be disgusting? Absolute Hubris!
Getting to the point. Food is both building material and actual chemical fuel. We are not powered by magic but by simple calories which are units of energy. They are not simply what makes us fat or a measure of our exertion on a treadmill.
If you wish to view it from a different perspective we are powered by the sun and the air. All energy we consume can be sourced to photosynthesis. The carbon in trees and all vegetation comes from the atmosphere. The tree of life is one of energy flux. I know some reject that we are a part of this great tree of life and that humanity is somehow special but you those people are utterly and pitifully wrong.
Reading this back this was not a short rant lol. I just can't help myself it seems from expressing myself and dispensing unsolicited advice. Oh well read someone else's profile if you prefer, don't come to my house and tell me what to think. After my remission maybe I'll be up for a spirited debate but somehow I think those days are over, I have nothing left to prove. Final piece of advice, it's easy to remember if you understand something, it's not a trick. Read up on science if you want a shot at rebutting or convicing me. scriptural apologetics
